1. Business Solution
Our goal is to assist our customers by improving their operations. We don't just provide hardware and software; we provide solutions . SMART Inventory addresses specific industry challenges while R4 Enterprise system is a complete supply chain management suite with financials, distribution, manufacturing, planning, inventory and reporting capabilities.
2. SMART Solution Structure
The SMART Solution is designed to provide as much flexibility as possible to fit the user's unique needs. Most comprehensive software packages necessitate the purchase of everyone else's requirements in addition to your own. SMART has been designed to avoid this situation. SMART has a standard engine with the ability to add-on functions in the following manner:
SMART Provides a Standard Engine To provide significant flexibility, the standard engine is provided at no charge. and charges are only made for selected functions. The major features included in the standard smart engine are:
*FIFO Inventory Control at the Tag Number Level | *RF Terminal Driver |
*Tag Number Control (Track Items by Container) | *Table Driven User Information |
*Error Messages | *User Selected Features |
*Alarm Processing | *Access Data Base |
*Backup and Restore Facility | *PC Search and Inquiries |
*Data Identifier Control | *Access Report Generator (ad hoc reporting) |
SMART Provides Ability to Select and Add-On Functions - You select functions to meet your particular goals. These functions then can be adjusted to fit your unique processes. A single fixed price is charged for each function.
3. SMART Concepts
SMART allows you to learn as you go - It was developed because the only way to refine the use of these concepts is by using them. Every operation is unique when you get down to the task level. You can start with any number of basic functions and grow as you go.
This approach is based on a strong belief in strategic partner relationships. The solution provider and the customer must work together to provide continuous improvement. SMART's objective is to improve your operations.
SMART Focuses on People - SMART is not focused on automation. SMART focuses on people to increase productivity and control.
Instantaneous, Accurate and Thorough Information - The solution is designed to provide real-time information. It allows management, terminal operators and SMART itself to make decisions, using up-to-the-second information.
SMART Control - SMART is intelligent software. Its IQ can be set to meet the needs of the particular operation. Of course, the cost rises as its intelligence increases. The trick is to make it smart enough to provide adequate control without over-kill, resulting in a solution that is too expensive.
You can achieve nearly perfect inventory accuracy using SMART! SMART can achieve this level of accuracy by applying the following concepts to increase control:
* Makes very effective decisions as to how work is to be done
* Directs work by issuing instructions similar to those of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
* Verifies that the work is done correctly and handles exceptions
* Reports what has happened
Note: It also can time stamp and log material handler's productivity
Wireless Communications - Radio Frequency (RF) terminals are a major enabling technology for warehousing. It allows each terminal handler to communicate with SMART (and vice versa), regardless of where they are. To quote a terminal handler, "It is my constant companion; it tells me where to go and what to do when I get there."
Bar Code Scanning- Scanning provides the necessary speed, accuracy and a way to verify activities in the warehouse or a manufacturing facility. Code 39 has an error rate of only one in three million when reading in-spec bar codes. Terminals are available that allow operators to scan bar codes at a variety of distances based on user requirements.
Location Control - There are two types of location control; fixed and random. The primary pick locations will be fixed (each item will have its own location). The "overflow" locations will be random. SMART can generate automatic refill work instructions for the primary locations from the overflow locations based on min-max quantities to be entered into the database.
